More details and photos

A padded dog harness built to spread the force when your dog pulls. Wide abrasion-resistant nylon webbing, a triangular design on both sides and a thick mesh-padded chest panel share the load, and the padding is gentle on the skin.

There are two places to clip the lead: a metal ring on the back and a ring at the front of the chest strap. Three adjustment points on the neck and chest give a secure, comfortable fit, and it closes with a clip buckle. Reflective stitching makes your dog easier to see at night.

Sizes (neck / chest, cm): XS 32–35 / 38–46 · S 35–42 / 44–55 · M 42–49 / 55–67 · L 46–55 / 67–84 · XL 54–71 / 80–107. Measure around the neck and the widest part of the chest.

Care: hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry. Don't tumble dry.

Questions before you buy

Where do I clip the lead?

On either of the two rings — the metal ring on the back, or the ring at the front of the chest strap.

How tight should it be?

Snug but comfortable. Use the three adjustment points on the neck and chest until you can slide two fingers under the straps.

What size do I need?

Measure around the neck and the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs: XS neck 32–35cm, chest 38–46cm · S neck 35–42cm, chest 44–55cm · M neck 42–49cm, chest 55–67cm · L neck 46–55cm, chest 67–84cm · XL neck 54–71cm, chest 80–107cm. Between two sizes, go up.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in warm soapy water and hang to dry. Don't tumble dry.

We’ve had this Rainhound harness for a couple of weeks now for our boy, and it’s easily the best one we've tried. He’s a proper puller and standard collars were just making him cough, but this has made a massive difference.

It’s really sturdy, well-padded, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Easy to get on and off, and has a dead handy grab handle on the top too. Solid 5 stars from us.

We’ve been using this Rainhound harness on our Shih Tzu cross for about three weeks now, and it’s been brilliant. Because of his size, most of the other harnesses we tried were either too bulky and made him look like he was wearing body armour, or they rubbed him raw under his front legs. This one fits absolutely spot on—it’s lightweight but still feels really secure.

He’s a proper little wriggler when it’s time for a walk, but this is a doddle to slip over his head and clip at the side. It gives us much better control when he gets over-excited without putting any strain on his neck. Plus, it’s really well-padded, so he’s happy trotting around in it. Dead easy to adjust too. Very pleased, would highly recommend for smaller breeds.

Bought this to replace a cheaper harness that ripped. It’s night and day in terms of sturdiness, and the back handle is dead handy for keeping him close near main roads. Only dropping a star because the side webbing straps tend to work themselves a little loose after a couple of hours charging through woodland, so you have to re-cinch them every few days. Otherwise, spot on.

Does exactly what you need it to. The front attachment is a lifesaver for pulling, and the heavy-duty buckles click in securely. Just bear in mind that the breathable mesh underneath acts a bit like a sponge for wet mud. If your dog loves a puddle, expect to be giving the harness a scrub in the sink rather than just a quick wipe down.

Got this for our working Cocker who never sits still. Most harnesses are a nightmare to get on, but this is over his head and clipped in seconds. Had it a month now, it’s been through plenty of muddy bogs and washed up fine. Reflective bits are dead handy for dark evening walks.

Very sturdy harness, and the padding seems really comfortable. It’s held up well to daily use and the occasional wash. Only giving it 4 stars because the sizing seems a touch generous. We had to tighten our medium right down to the stops to prevent it slipping on our Springer. Once properly adjusted though, it’s a cracking bit of kit.

Bought this about three weeks ago for our 2-year-old Golden Retriever who thinks he's a sled dog. Instant improvement. The handle on the back is brilliant for keeping him close when cars pass on narrow lanes, and the clips feel proper sturdy. Solid buy.
